Every so often I attempt a revival of my blogs.  The last time I posted here was January of 2013.  Now that we have established that I am a low frequency blogger, I am challenging myself to change that.  My goal, is to update this blog once a week
This blog will become more photography centric.  I will continue to share my images and what projects I am working on, but there will be more photography info, facts, reference lists etc.
Over the past two and a half years I have relocated, changed jobs more than once, taken many, many photographs and I even shot a wedding.  Something I have not done in over fifteen years.  I don't know that I will add weddings back onto the list of services I offer, but if I know you personally and the circumstances are right, I may just consider it.

I still create my tree art, one of my newer pieces can be seen at the bottom of this blog.  I sell postcards of some of my work at a store in Roanoke, Va, called A Little Bit Hippy and am hoping to offer small posters there soon.  You can also purchase the postcards and prints by selecting which print you would like at my website A Walk in the Woods and sending me an email.  Later this week I am planning to offer items through Society6 as well.

The largest personal hurdle came early this year when I found out I had a tumor in my stomach.  I had surgery to remove it in late March.  While the diagnosis was not great, it was cancer, the prognosis is good.  It was a small enough tumor, 4.5 centimeters, and the malignancy was low, so I do not have to have any chemo or radiation treatments at this time.  I do have to have my stomach scoped and biopsies taken every three months.  My first follow up is next month.  My focus has been on staying positive, and striving to keep stress and negative energy from my life as much as possible.

Currently I am working on expanding my photography portfolio, and finally sitting down to create a course I can offer as a class at retirement communities and after school programs in the community.  I am developing my own course manual and marketing plan. I will continue to share my progress with this project here.

Capturing a moment in time...

It's a new year, new beginnings and time for me to get back in to the swing of things in everything creative that I have had on the back burner.  My photography blog and shooting an image a day are two of those things.

To revive my blog, here we have a shot I took yesterday of my son enjoying the warm weather outside blowing bubbles.  It is moments like this that I love photography even more.  You can watch someone blow bubbles, see them blow, see the bubbles float away.  It all happens so fast.  With a photograph you can capture moments...savor them, appreciate them in a way you can't when they are happening because in reality they occur in the blink of an eye.

I have a new photography website that will be updated and maintained on a regular basis.  Sara Hudson Photography It has a more professional look and is more polished.  I finally decided that if I am ever going to make this passion of mine work, I need to get serious.

There are some other things on the table that I will share as they move forward, but let me just say that this should be an interesting year.

You can also follow me over at Facebook Sara Hudson Photography

Have a great year and enjoy capturing the moment!

Now in Print!

I finally completed working on my project Kaleidoscope Forest which is a continuation of my project Enchanted Trees.

To see a fifteen page preview or purchase a copy you can follow the link in the column on the right. As with Enchanted Trees, Kaleidoscope Forest is published by blurb.com. I am very happy with how this turned out and while I love a number of the images in my first book, I like this book so much more.

I thoroughly enjoyed introducing elements of color to this set of images. Prints of select images from both of my books can be found at my prints shop on Deviant Art.

"Climbing"

Prints available for purchase here .

Shot this on an afternoon walk. There were a number of daisies there, but this one stood out to me due to the little vine spiraling it's way up the stem.
